Connecting in the Cloud
The Connecting in the Cloud series is an opportunity to come together in an informal, online setting to discuss challenges you're facing everyday. Registered members will participate in a facilitated brainstorming session around a specified topic, similar to an interest group but without the geographical challenges.
Do you have a session idea or proposal you would like to be considered as a Connecting in the Cloud session? Submit your idea or proposal to the Professional Development Committee for consideration.

Using Network Filters, AV over IP Meets Access Control Lists Tuesday, February 24, 2026 | 12pm ET
Most AV pros who work with networks know about filters and access control lists. Few AV pros utilize them to keep their AV Over IP networks running smoothly. These filters can make complex decisions about what traffic passes or gets blocked. This session will demystify these seemingly complex ideas by helping participants understand why and how to utilize them. There will be a focus on multicast-based filters. Several real-world multicast addresses you should know will be identified and explained what they can do on the network. The session will differentiate between ingress and egress filters, it will explain how to determine if a specific switch offers the filters you need, and it will help determine the unique differences between unicast and multicast filters. For the more network inclined in the audience all of this refers to building appropriate access control lists for audiovisual networks.

Studio Design: A Cornell Case Study Thursday, April 9, 2026 |1PM ET.
In this presentation, Dom Zerilli, technical operations lead for eCornell, will guide you through the construction, AV system design, and configuration of Cornell University's newly built flagship production studios located in Ithaca, NY. This project heavily relied on the talents of the internal team with minimal 3rd party involvement, saving over $1 million in project costs. As such, it proves the real value of trust, collaboration, and investment in professional development.
In this presentation, you will learn;
- The primary considerations when laying out new studio space in a challenging environment.
- How the Cornell team prioritized their equipment budget to build 'right-sized' modern studios.
- The tools they utilized for automation and equipment control (many of which are open source and free).
In addition, you will also have the opportunity to download a copy of eCornell's studio diagrams and select configuration files to use and learn from for your own institution.
Join us Thursday, April 9, 2026 from 1-2 PM ET.
